Oh Happy Day

K woke up crying at 6 a.m.
I brought her downstairs, where she threw up all over the floor. She moved into the living room where she threw up all over the couch.

As I was cleaning it up, E came downstairs and told me she couldn't find her library book for school today. It took ten minutes of searching before we found it under a pile of books.

She then remembered that she had to bring in a Valentine box to school ( a shoebox covered in plain paper).

As I searched for a shoebox, K threw up two more times--once on the kitchen table. She wanted water desperately, but it kept making her sick.

After I cleaned her up, I started covering the shoebox, only to learn that the scotch tape was gone.

So I used blue double-wide painter tape instead. I had to cut it into millions of pieces just to make it work.

K threw up two more times. Poor thing. She was extremely upset both times. I had to take E to the bus stop (it's 6 degrees, and with windchill feels like -11), and left K in a huddled heap on the stairs. That's where she was most comfortable. When I got back, Scout (the dog) threw up under the piano.

This all happened before 8:40 in the morning.

It just makes me wonder how the rest of the day will be...here's K, now asleep and peaceful on the stairs:

UPDATED: E just got sick at school and threw up all over herself. I picked her up and now she's home with me. My poor babies just can't catch a break.

  2. Oh, Lu! That's just one of those awful, mom days. I can SO relate! I hope Katie (and your doggie) feel better soon, and that your day goes WAY up from here!

  4. Thank you--both girls are just wiped out right now. Hopefully they'll get some rest today. :(

On a side note, I guess I didn't need to make that Valentine Box....since she's already home from school.

  6. It's almost "comforting" to know that children and "old folks" suffer the same consequences of this most recent "flu" adventure. "Been There" and only a week ago! :-) Or was it two weeks ago...? Your Mom set a fine example for parenting; Bless Her! *Me*
